As Register of Deeds for the last 7 years, I have led a massive overhaul of the office's software and website, building resiliency into the system before we ever knew about COVID. The huge increases in efficiency have allowed us to reduce our total staff by 15% while increasing net revenues 150% in less office space.
As your Register of Deeds, I've also:
~ Instituted a Fraud Alert system to let you know if anyone records a document in your name
~Simplified small business name filings
~ Promoted women leaders on staff (80% of our promotions)
~ Created a student internship to help bring records of slavery and other important but hidden historical documents online for the public
~ Spoke to dozens of community groups, historical societies, racial justice organizations, and schools
In the next four years, I will continue to return value to Orange County by:
1. Eliminating 100,000 pages of waste paper by implementing electronic PIN assignment
2. Streamlined indexing and advanced search functions for the website
3. Completing our historical records index to cover 1750 to the present
4. Keep fighting for LGBTQ+ equality, racial justice and gender equity
